A teen-aged camp staff member whom also teaches wilderness survival skills at a Christian summer camp in Colorado had to get medical care after he was made awoken in the early-morning hours on Sunday by a rogue black bear biting into his head.
Dillon, the 19-year-old now has 19 staples in his head to close up the wounds along with numerous scratches. Dillon said that he thought he was imagining things as he heard a “crunching sound,” just then he woke up in “extreme torment” as the black bear started to drag him from his tent and sleeping bag, across the camp and off towards the woods far from the Glacier View Ranch campground, Colorado Parks and Wildlife representative Jennifer Churchill told CNN. The bear attacks, Dillon – who teaches wilderness survival at the camp – revealed to CNN affiliate KMGH about the whole ordeal. “The crunching noise, I guess, was the teeth scraping against the skull as it dug in,” the victim said. “It grabbed me… and pulled me. Then it bit the back of my head and (dragged) me,” he told KMGH. The crazed black bear then proceeded to drag off the young camper for around 10 – 12 feet before it was frightened off by other staffers.
