There’s just nothing like a hot bowl of venison chili on a cold fall or winter day.
So, when you bag your deer this deer hunting season make sure to save yourself plenty of ground venison so you can make yourself a big stockpot of venison chili.
Wild Game Recipe: Traditional Venison Chili
2 ½ lb. ground venison
1 ½ lb. bacon
1 T. chili powder
1 ½ tsp. pepper
½ gal. cooked kidney beans
4 (No. 3) cans of tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1 sm. onion
½ tsp. cumin seed
½ gal. Water
- Cut bacon into small pieces; brown until crisp.
- Add venison and brown.
- Combine remaining ingredients.
- Add browned meat and enough water to cover.
- Simmer for 2 hours. Serves 20.
