Attendees can shake the hand that fired the world’s first .357 Magnum Automatic, and get an autograph from the firearms innovator whose work changed the industry. If you love gunsmithing, you’ll love hearing how Dan built his first 1911-style .357 Auto. “This is a great opportunity for gunsmiths to see our .357 Auto,” says Dan. “They might even have a chance to fire one, and I can tell you what everyone tells us: when you press the steel to the flesh and shoot our .357, it’s like nothing else you’ve ever fired.”

Dan’s excited to meet some of the promising young gunsmiths working in America today. “I’m looking forward to talking to the younger gunsmiths and firearms fans. Our industry’s getting older, and we need fresh blood to keep us relevant.” Dan also wants other gunsmisths to see just how compatible the Coonan .357’s parts are with regular 1911-style pistols. “Working on the Coonan .357 is very similar to working on a 1911. Gunsmiths will see and appreciate the similarities. At least until they shoot ours. Then they’ll see the difference.”

Coonan’s .357 Magnum Automatic is a 1911-style pistol manufactured from stainless steel that fires standard .357 Magnum ammunition as well as .38 +P rounds, along with a host of other ammunition. The pistol is a revision of Dan’s original fabrication of the .357 Automatic, and it has been a smash hit among handgun enthusiasts and gun dealers who want a unique pistol, something that isn’t seen on the range every day.

Dan Coonan’s 1911-style .357 Magnum Automatic has recently been featured on the cover of Shotgun News as well as in American Handgunner, Guns & Ammo’s Complete Book of the Model 1911, and Special Weapons for Military and Police.
