A man was recorded by onlookers, as he was nearly mauled by mother black bear when he tried to cox and approached some black bear cubs. A spokesperson for The Great Smoky Mountains National Park says they “do not have enough identification information” to launch a pursuit to catch the man in what is now a viral video.
In the video, we can see that the mama bear appears to charge and lunge, at the unidentified man in the video. Thus, forcing him to have second thoughts about approaching the bear cubs and he backs off. The mother bear and three cubs continue to be on their way despite the man’s meddling. The bears can be seen in the video to enter the woods and then travel alongside the park roads edge.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park wants to make sure that visitors have a chance to enjoy the wild beauty the Tennessee park has to offer them. But, warns that visitors must be aware of the dangers of approaching wild animals such as bears. Wild animals can be highly dangerous or very unpredictable. As well, the park has a law which makes it illegal to come within 50 yards of bears and doing so can result in fines and/or arrest for violations of that law.
