-I grew up in Texas bow hunting, but haven’t been bow hunting since I joined the military, so this guy is special to me. Feels like the first time all over again.
-He was 180lbs and a 4×3
-Shot with a Mission Craze with a 55lb draw weight
-I targeted him early in the AM. He was in a large group of does and a few baby spikes.
-I ALMOST didn’t go hunting in the afternoon, but I am glad I did. He had moved down the valley, and it took me about 30 min to find him again. He was still with the same group of does. I snuck up behind a tree about 50 yard away and hoped he would come to me since I was downwind. He got about 35 yards out and I stepped on a branch and he looked towards me. Thought I was busted.
-Thankfully a doe walked up next to him, and in pure man character he switched his focus to her. She moved to the right of him and he went broadside, nose up her butt. That was my shot.
-Double lung at 35 yards. He jumped and ran off about 50 yard, stopped, swayed and that was it.
-Gutted him, field dressed and processed him.
