Come and discover why "Snakes are Ssspectacular"!

MILWAUKEE — A display native Wisconsin snakes and a guided hike in search of wild snakes are among the activities people will be able participate in when Havenwoods State Forest and Friends of Havenwoods, Inc., host Snake Fest on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016. This free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A variety of indoor and outdoor activities will interest visitors of all ages. Havenwoods naturalists will display native Wisconsin snakes and allow visitors to touch many of them. Herpetologists from the Milwaukee County Zoo will display native and exotic snakes. Short programs are scheduled throughout the day, providing a close-up look at individual snakes, turtles, and toads.

Visitors can also take a guided hike in search of snakes and test their knowledge of snakes in a computer challenge. Kids can get creative with painting a snake on a rock, making an origami snake, and creating a snake from soda pop tops.

Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase. Proceeds go to the Friends of Havenwoods in support of Havenwoods' education programs.
